Functie

The Business Development Manager Road is primarily focussed on generating new business with large multinationals with a cross-country and complex road transport network. You will be responsible for developing business with a number of target companies (new and existing customers with a limited ‘share of wallet’), combined with active sales through tender requests. Given the wide range of prospects, different sales processes allow the role to be tweaked to specific expertise and areas of interest of the Business Development manager.

The department consists of various Account Directors/Managers, a solution design department and several business development managers.
As Business Development Manager you work closely with your colleagues but also with senior management of the various local road operations. You act and have network with senior management of large multinationals. You are very comfortable with complex solutions in European road transport and are able to evaluate road transport solutions in a complete supply chain perspective. The reporting line is to the Director Global Accounts – Road and key location of the Global Accounts group is in Venlo, The Netherlands.
 
Tasks & Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager Road is responsible for (a.o.):
  • Manage commercial projects (tenders, pro- active sales) both externally and internally;
  • Write up commercial proposals;
  • Analyse customer requirements and translate into efficient operational solution response;
  • Act as single point of contact for customers during business development phase;
  • Active networking and lead generation for Global Account projects;
  • Analyse markets/ sectors and identify service requirements and translate into sector oriented service offerings;
  • Develop market plan and approach;
  • Customer presentations;
  • Commercial negotiations;
  • Focus on specific market segments.

Functie-eisen

Minimal bachelor degree with additional courses on sales;

At least 7 years business development experience in European road transport
A ‘proven track record’ in sales and ‘pipe line’ development;
Experience in working in an international environment;
Independent worker and self-starter;
Business knowledge based sales person;
Working with short deadlines;
Structured and planned way of working;
Understanding customer requirements and translating them in a solutions;
European mind set (multi country environment);
Persistent;
Analytical, understanding underlying cost-drivers to create more cost effective customer solutions;
Communication with business partners in processes; concise and to-the-point;
Fluent in English; other European languages preferred.
